Six-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Compound Halbach Magnet Array

In recent years, the multi-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has been gradually applied to the electromechanical actuation (EMA) because of its winding redundancy and high reliability. In this paper, the compound Halbach magnet array is proposed for six-phase PMSM. The magnet array can ensure that the magnetic poles are almost free of magnetic flux leakage, thus it can reduce the PMSM’s dependence on the rotor iron core, completely eliminate the rotor iron core and improve the dynamic characteristics of the EMA. The simulation works are conducted to analyze and optimize the key parameters of the compound magnet array, and the results show that dimension parameter and inclined magnetization angle can further improve the electromagnetic torque.
