Abstract
Energy storage plays an important role in the construction of a new type power systems. In recent years, energy storage applications in power generation-side, grid-side and load-side have been employed both at home and abroad. The grid-connected scale of battery energy storage stations (BESS) has gradually developed rapidly to hundreds of megawatt-hours and gigawatt-hours. With the development of grid-connected and application scale of BESS, safe, reliable and economical fine-grained control is increasingly important. The digitalization and intelligentization of BESS (DI-BESS) can effectively improve operation, while being highly valued at home and abroad. In this paper, we first analyzes the current situation of BESS. Then, oriented to the development demands of DI-BESS, we develop the digital-intelligent control architecture and key technical challenges of BESS. Finally, we explore a digital and intelligent practices of gigawatt-hours BESS, and conclude the application prospect of DI-BESS.
