Research on Accurate Fault Location of Distribution Network Based on Network Topology and Intelligent Initial Traveling Wave Head Search

The medium and low voltage distribution network in China has a large quantity and a wide range of areas in the power system, and the neutral point non effective grounding method is commonly used. When a single-phase grounding fault occurs, the fault current is small, the fault characteristics are not obvious, and the distribution network has short distance and multiple branches. Therefore, rapid and accurate positioning of line faults has always been a problem that needs to be solved. This article introduces a comprehensive positioning algorithm applied to the main station of distribution network fault location. When a single-phase fault occurs, the traveling wave acquisition terminal installed at the key nodes of the distribution network triggers wave recording, and the recorded data is sent to the main station. The main station first performs wavelet transform on the transient data of the fault, then groups and filters it to ensure accurate and reliable initial traveling wave heads, that is, the arrival time of each terminal. Finally, combined with the network topology, the weight of various situations is considered, the most accurate result is to ultimately identify the fault point.
