Abstract
Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides (NOx) with methane has been considered as an efficient technology for simultaneous removal of emitted NOx and unburned CH4 in both transport (heavy-duty vehicles and ships) and power plant sectors, where the development of efficient catalysts is critical for the commercialization of CH4-SCR technology. In this manuscript, it is shown that Co-SSZ-39 (Co-AEI) is highly efficient for the CH4-SCR. Characterizations of the catalysts reveal that divalent cobalt ions (Co2+) located at the exchange position are active species for this CH4-SCR. In particular, the Co-SSZ-39 exhibited high hydrothermal stability and excellent tolerances to water, CO, and SO2, which offer a good opportunity for potential applications of the Co-SSZ-39 for CH4-SCR in the future.
