Modifying the constitutive parameters of the background media is a technique that enables the mitigation of numerical dispersion errors in finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations, when wave propagation in non-dispersive materials is modeled. For cases where material dispersion is present, we propose a methodology that alters the parameters of the typical Lorentz model, so that the impact of numerical errors is controlled in two-dimensional FDTD studies.
