Abstract
C4F7N has been proven to be a potential alternative gas for SF6 in high-voltage interruption field. By far, many researches have focused on its insulation characteristics, while the studies on the arc extinguishing performance are relatively few. To study the arc interruption characteristics, this paper conducts arc MHD simulation on C 4 F 7 N mixed gas and SF 6 of their arc interruption characteristics on short arcing conditions, separately. The simulation results show that the C 4 F 7 N mixed gas has the potential to interrupt arc and the differences between the characteristics of the two media are also analyzed.
