Abstract
Over the last few years, the use of tracking devices for monitoring athletes’ performance has grown increasingly popular. This paper deals with the implementation of an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) algorithm for the fusion of Ultra-WideBand (UWB) and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors for sports applications. Simulations have been performed in order to assess the feasibility and the performance of such an approach. The results obtained show that an UWB/IMU fusion is very promising and able to provide an improvement in the estimation of kinematic quantities involved in indoor sport applications.
