摘要
Misinformation is a rampant issue creating distrust and societal unrest across the globe. While there has been a recent influx of serious games produced to help inoculate players against misinformation, the vast majority have taken a single-player, narrative-focused approach with limited long-term efficacy. In this project, we have developed DoomScroll, a mod of the popular social deception title Among Us, with new features designed to teach common identifiers of misleading or unreliable information. We propose that integrating multiplayer functionality with evergreen narratives shaped through the gameplay itself will motivate players to continue practicing and honing their discernment abilities. In this work, we present the design and development of the high-fidelity DoomScroll prototype and the findings of the first play-tests evaluating its usability and player engagement. Our results inform future directions for design and development.
