An Online Torque Sharing Function Method for Low Torque Ripple and Copper Losses in Switched Reluctance Motors

摘要
This article presents an online torque sharing function (TSF) method to reduce torque ripple and copper losses in switched reluctance motors (SRMs). The proposed online TSF method introduces the principle of region division during SRM operation by analysing the output capability of phase torque. The manipulation of the phase current reference in different regions is introduced to avoid the generation of peak currents, thereby weakening the influence of inductance nonlinearity on current and torque control. Then, the strategy of online sharing and compensating phase torque are proposed based on the analysis of the torque output capacity of each phase in different regions to maintain a constant net torque. Unlike the conventionally available TSF methods, this online TSF method has the advantage of not requiring the specific shape of the torque sharing function to be predetermined and avoiding the calculation of complex turning on angle, turning off angle, and commutation overlap angle. Simulations and experiments are carried out under different operating conditions to verify the proposed online TSF method.
