Design of an Anti-Offset Coupling Coil for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Wireless Power Transfer

A significant limitation affecting the efficiency of wireless charging systems for UAVs is the incapability to align precisely and spatial offsets that lower the coupling coefficient. In this paper, a coupling coil structure with simple structure and no additional control is designed, which can suppress the coupling fluctuation caused by physical offset. The main factors affecting the mutual inductance of the design are investigated by finite element simulation. Two reference schemes are proposed by optimizing the fit of different parameters. The radius of the circular anti-offset region obtained can reach 60% and 100% of the radius of the receiving coil, and the fluctuation of the mutual inductance in the anti-offset region is less than 1% and 1.5%, respectively.
