In an antenna array, the radiations characteristics may be disturbed by some failed elements out of total antenna elements that caused increase of side lobe level power and ultimately reduces the efficiency or performance of an antenna system. In this work, computationally efficient brain storm optimization algorithm technique has been employed to recover the original characteristics of antenna array system. The normalized excitation coefficients (amplitude values of all elements) of 32 × 1 and 16 × 1 elements of linear antenna array design has been re-computed with the help of proposed technique to regain original features of antenna. The results has been validated by analyzing the various antenna parameters such as half power beam width, first null beam width, side lobe level etc. Secondly, two nulls have been incorporated in the radiation characteristics of antenna array in order to suppress the unwanted signals that reaching to the system from specific directions. The performance of antenna system for nulls has been verified through parameter such as null depressed level. The work has been compared with other computationally efficient techniques (Biogeography-based optimization and genetic algorithm).
