The photon spectrum in the inclusive electromagnetic radiative decays of the B meson, B ! X s (cid:1) plus B ! X d (cid:1) , is studied using a data sample of ð 382 : 8 (cid:1) 4 : 2 Þ (cid:2) 10 6 (cid:2) ð 4 S Þ ! B (cid:1) B decays collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. The spectrum is used to extract the branching fraction B ð B ! X s (cid:1) Þ ¼ ð 3 : 21 (cid:1) 0 : 33 Þ (cid:2) 10 (cid:3) 4 for E (cid:1) > 1 : 8 GeV and the direct CP asymmetry A CP ð B ! X s þ d (cid:1) Þ ¼ 0 : 057 (cid:1) 0 : 063 . The effects of detector resolution and Doppler smearing are unfolded to measure the photon energy spectrum in the B meson rest frame.
