Development of Improved Methodology for Setting Up Electro-Technological Modes of Electric Arc Steel-Making Furnaces of Modular Type

Abstract
Within the framework of the article the research of electro-technological modes of electric arc steelmaking fur- nace of modular type EAF-120 is carried out. The problems as- sociated with the presence of suboptimal modes of furnace op- eration with low power factor, the lack of automation of gas-ox- ygen equipment, as well as the lack of an informative parameter characterising the degree of shielding of electric arcs by foamed slag in the process of melting. In order to solve these problems, an improved methodology for setting up electro-technological modes is proposed. Using this methodology, new, optimised practices (profiles) of melting, providing more optimal modes of furnace operation, are proposed. As an implementation result of these practices in the current production, the technical effect in the reduction form of specific power consumption was estimated.
