Abstract
The dormancy technology of 5G base stations (gNBs) can achieve rapid power reduction in millisecond timescale, making it ideal potential demand response resource for primary frequency control (PFC). However, due to the short timescale, it is challenging to estimate gNBs dispatchable capacity during PFC process. In this regard, this paper proposes a novel dispatchable capacity estimation method for gNB population based on their statistical characteristics. The proposed method does not rely on low-latency communication infrastructure but can accurately evaluate the dispatchable capacity of the gNB population online.
