An Intuitive System for Setting Haptic Properties of 3D Materials.

Haptic devices have shown the benefits of exploring new ways to train students and professionals in different fields of knowledge. Through those devices, system user's can touch 3D objects present only in the computational environment. Therefore, systems based on haptic devices explore immersion and interaction through the realism obtained using tactile resources. However, reproducing the properties of real objects in 3D objects can be challenging. This study presents HaptiCAL, an intuitive system for calibrating the tactile properties of 3D objects. HaptiCAL aims to support experts in the setting of these propertieswhen haptic devices from the Touch series (formerly called Phanthom) are used. This demonstration will present the system and the process of setting the properties of several materials.
