Enhancement of Multiferroic Properties of La-Doped GaFeO3

Abstract
The present work reports a series of polycrystalline GaFe1-xLaxO3 (x = 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) ceramics were prepared by using ceramic method. Further, the effect on the structural, electrical and magnetic properties were studied by the doping of La. Structural analysis using XRD confirmed the existence of single-phase orthorhombic crystal structure in all the samples. FSEM analysis revealed that the grains were uniformly distributed and decreased with La content. The conjugate existence of both ferroelectric and magnetic ordering was further confirmed by the study of P-E and M-H loop. M-H loop at room temperature confirmed the existence of weak ferrimagnetic behavior in the doped sample. The improved in multiferroic properties were observed for La substitution. The complex impedance analysis clearly distinguished grain and grain boundary contributions for all the studied ceramics. This investigation will open a new feasibility for incorporating GaFeO3 at ambient temperature for multifunctional applications.
