Research on the water-mist corona charging effect and coal dust removal performance of a red copper barbed ring electrode

Water-mist charging technology, as an innovative form of wet dust capture technology, is designed to capture fine coal dust using electrostatic force. With advancements in the charging process, materials, and design of the electrodes utilized in traditional water-mist charging technology, the present study introduced the corona water-mist charging technology utilizing a red copper barbed ring electrode. Initially, the variation in voltage of self-sustained corona discharge and the characteristics of electric field distribution with varying electrode parameters were examined through simulation. This was aimed at identifying the electrode parameters that yield the most effective charging. Subsequently, the charging and dust reduction effects of the corona water-mist charging technology employing a red copper barbed ring electrode were explored experimentally. Findings indicate that this technology significantly reduces the droplet particle size, enhances their charge, and improves the efficiency of settling on coal dust. This research offers a new method and practical advice for the efficient capture of coal dust.
