Medium-frequency HVDC Transmission Scheme for Distant Offshore Large-scale Wind Farm Integration

How to achieve economic and efficient grid connection of large-scale offshore wind power is currently a research focus. This article first proposes a medium-frequency HVDC transmission scheme for distant offshore large-scale wind farm integration, and introduces the topology structure of the system. Subsequently, a DC cable fault handling strategy suitable for the offshore wind power DC transmission system was proposed on this basis, including the configuration of smoothing reactors on the multi-port DC circuit breaker side, the configuration of DC energy dissipation devices, and the DC fault handling strategy. Finally, a simulation model for a DC transmission system suitable for large-scale offshore wind power grid connection was built in the time-domain simulation software PSCAD/EMTDC, and various faults were simulated to verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
