Robust Optimization Planning for Shared Energy Storage Systems in Multi-Microgrid Distribution Networks

Energy storage plays an important role in integrating renewable energy sources and power systems, thus how to deploy growing shared energy storage systems (SESSs) while meeting the technical requirements of microgrids (MGs) is a challenging problem in distribution networks. This paper proposes a two-level optimal configuration method of multiple microgrids (MMGs) based on SESSs service. First, the SESS service model is proposed, which analyzes the operation mode and profit mechanism for the SESS. Then, the multi-level optimization model is transformed into a single-level linear programming model using Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions. A reformulation and decomposition method based on relaxation techniques is used to solve the model. Finally, numerical tests are implemented to test the reasonability and validity of the proposed planning method under uncertainty.
