Design and Implementation of Shared Energy Storage System based on TTU in Low Voltage Distribution Networks

Energy Storage System (ESS) plays a significant role in novel power system because of its capability to improve system the accommodation capacity of clean energy. The traditional approach of utilizing ESS is applying the grid-scale but individual one into a low voltage distribution network. Due to the inefficiency and high-cost of the individual implementation, shared ESS (SESS) is proposed which thought to be a more attractive approach to utilize ESS. In this paper, the design and control method of a four-terminal shared energy storage system is proposed and practically implemented to improve the utility of ESS and provide auxiliary service for low voltage distribution networks. Experiment results show that a shared is effective in improving both the accommodation capacity of photovoltaic power and the power quality.
