摘要
High Magnetic Field Laboratory (HMFL) at Hefei, China, is developing a 10 Tesla split-pair superconducting magnet system for spectroscopy applications. The split magnet has two Nb3Sn coils and two NbTi coils symmetrically on each side. It operates at 160 A current, generates 10 Tesla horizontal central field, and has a 0.5% homogeneity in 10 mm DSV. Together with a 50 mm sample space vertical variable temperature insert (VTI), this magnet will be integrated into a recondensing cryostat to eliminate liquid helium boil-off in steady-state operation and significantly reduces the frequency of refills. In this paper, detail magnet designs, covering electromagnetic design, stress analysis, quench analysis and protection design, will be introduced.
