A Novel Pulse-Management Linearized Current Mode Digital Power Amplifier

This letter presents a 2.4-GHz current mode digital power amplifier (CMDPA) based on the pulse-management linearization (PML) technique in 65-nm CMOS. The AM–AM and AM–PM distortion mechanisms are analyzed with the CMDPA model first, which can be suppressed by the proposed PML technique. A high-efficiency power combiner is utilized to combine two-way differential power. According to the measurement results, the proposed linear CMDPA reduces maximum AM–AM distortion from 5.7 to 1.3 dB and maximum AM–PM distortion from 149.4to 3.4and achieves a saturated power of 28.4 dBm with drain efficiency of 40.6% at 2.4 GHz.
