Predictive Current Control and Current Balance Method for Interleaved Buck EDM Pulse Generator

For the two-phase interleaved buck electrical discharge machining (EDM) pulse generator with no bulk output capacitor, the influences of the connection cable parasitic inductance on the inductor current control and the current unbalance issues are analyzed. Based on a Y-Delta transformation, the effects of the parasitic inductance are decoupled, and a virtual current of triangle waveform is introduced. Then, the typical predictive valley current control can be applied on the master-phase average current control directly, and a duty cycle compensation strategy is proposed to realize a high dynamic current balance in the transient-state. The experiments verify the feasibility of the proposed strategies.
