A Novel Jamming Architecture of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Synthetic Aperture Radar

The traditional jammer uses an architecture of superheterodyne receiver and a method of direct sampling of intermediate frequency (IF) signal, which is costly and difficult for implementation. A new jammer architecture based on dechirp reception that can significantly reduce the sampling rate, and further reduce cost and signal processing complexity is proposed in this paper. In response to the problem of mirror interference in dechirp reception and inverse dechirp transmission, a novel solution of using a local oscillator (LO) signal with fixed frequency offset is introduced, and an experimental jammer system is constructed to verify the feasibility of the proposed architecture. Finally, an effective jamming on a ground-based FMCW-SAR is achieved.
