Abstract
In order to overcome the severe wear damage of Inconel 718 as hot parts at room temperature-1000 oC, a new-type wear resistant MoNiCr matrix coating reinforced by Si was developed on the Inconel 718 alloy by laser cladding. The Si element showed the solid strengthening effect, dispersion strengthening effect and grain refinement effect, which obviously improved the tribological performance of MoNiCr matrix coating as compared with Si-free MoNiCr coating and Inconel 718 at room temperature-1000 oC. The wear rates of coating reinforced by Si were in the order of 10-6-10-5mm3/N.m. This is due to the combined effect of the high hardness and the formation of SiO2, MoO3, Ni2SiO4, NiMoO4, etc. as well as the friction layer.
