Abstract
The SALT ASIC is a custom-designed front-end readout chip for the LHCb Upstream Tracker (UT). It extracts and digitizes analogue signals from a silicon strip sensor, performs digital signal processing and transmits event data to the back-end data acquisition system. In the nominal LHCb operation environment, the UT detector needs to endure an intense particle fluence. Radiation tolerance is one of the key requirements in the chip design. A series of radiation studies had been performed during the R&D process. We report here single event upset (SEU) effects that were measured on configuration registers and memory buffers inside the ASIC. The impact on the LHCb operation are also projected.
