Design of Wave Energy Converters Based on Multi-Unit Energy Power Take-Off System

The multi-unit WEC is a kind of Marine equipment with multiple absorbing floats and multiple energy conversion systems, which converts wave energy into electric energy. It is an effective scheme to improve the conversion efficiency of the whole WEC and reduce the kilowatt-hour electricity cost. This paper describes the technical characteristics of multi-unit wave power generation device, introduces the structure design and working principle of 100kW eagle WEC “Wanshan”, selects the main frequency period and similarity ratio of the model according to the physical model performance test, and carries out the key parameter design of the wave power generation device prototype. In order to verify the feasibility of the design scheme, the wave power generation device “Wanshan” was deployed in the waters of Dawanshan, Guangdong Province, in April 2017. In this paper, the test data of 10 days in the process of actual sea state were captured and compared with the model test. The results show that the maximum capture width ratio is 37%, and the difference between wave height and period is small after conversion by similarity ratio, which indicates that the design method and scheme in this paper have high accuracy and feasibility. The research results of this paper can provide reference for the design of multi-unit WEC.
