Simulation of wall collision relaxation in alkali metal cells for SERF magnetometer

Abstract
The measurement of wall collision relaxation in alkali metal cells is of significant for a SERF magnetometer. In this paper, the polarization distribution in the alkali vapor cell and the theoretical values of wall collision relaxation are determined through a combined method on the basis of two distinct simulations. The relaxation in the alkali vapor cell is measured by scanning the magnetic resonance linewidth that provides a comparison between the measured and simulated values of wall collision relaxation. The result shows that the relative error between the actual measurement and simulation is within 10% and a reasonable explanation is derived. This research provides a valuable method for the theoretical calculations of wall collision relaxation.
