Abstract
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have tremendously developed and contributed to domains taking advantage of the affordable and fast source of gathering data, in addition to its reliable technique for close-range data acquisition. In terms of optical remote sensing, illuminating source dependent, smaller footprint, shadow effect, etc., play a significant role as they create limitations to this technique. Shadows are the critical regions that affect the quality of the information in optical imagery. The analysis of this research focuses on the shadow effects at the pixel level. In this study, a calibration pad comprised of five colour strips, i.e., red, green, blue, black, and white was developed to analyze and understand the effect of shadow on different colour strips in different bands (RGB) in an optical image acquired from a UAV.
