This research paper provides a thorough literature of fractional order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controllers within the realm of grid integration applications. The main objective is to conduct a comparative analysis of classical and intelligent control techniques in the specific context of grid integration. The performance of fractional order PID controllers is carefully scrutinized with regard to their capacity to regulate power flow, improve stability, and enhance overall system performance. The review is based on parameter optimization technique, accuracy of technique used, parameters optimized, output performance improved for specific area using a software/tool. Moreover, the study explores the potential of intelligent control techniques such as: fuzzy logic, neural networks, and evolutionary algorithms, to augment grid integration with PID. This research contributes to explore the techniques used in future based on control strategies designed with their accuracy for grid integration systems.
