The Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation, the zone of interest in this block, is of great potential for its abundant resources. Previous studies in this block often focused on shale play evaluation and reservoir characterization. Geophysical prospecting is just at its beginning and thus has not provided enough information for the deployment of horizontal well drilling. This paper predicts shale gas sweet spots based on logging and 3D seismic data. The former is used to define sweet spots in vertical direction; the latter is used to predict reservoir thickness, TOC content, brittleness and pore pressure through petrophysical analysis and prestack inversion. The results show that shale gas sweet spots in this block vertically concentrate within 30 m above the bottom of the Longmaxi Formation and laterally distribute in the southeast and southwest of the 3D seismic area. These results obtained by the integration of logging and seismic technologies provide useful information for horizontal well deployment and wellbore trajectory design.
