Optimal configuration of Son Tay's power system associated with electricity prices in both gridconnected and stand-alone modes

Green electrification in Vietnam has faced challenges due to the national power system's limited capacity to distribute electricity effectively from generation sites to load centers. Meanwhile, government plans and growing pollution are pushing for investments in zero-emissions power plants. To tackle this, energy efficiency and local self-consumption are seen as a way out of this complex situation. This study investigates the optimal configurations associated with different electricity prices of an urban power system using rooftop solar power sources combined with electricity storage systems (batteries and hydrogen) and diesel generators for Son Tay, a district of Hanoi. The study is conducted using HOMER under three scenarios to compare cost-effectiveness and determine the best supply solution for electricity requirements in both grid-connected and stand-alone modes.
