Abstract
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the simultaneous effect of Nanoclay (NC) and Glass Fiber (GF) on improving the effectiveness of conventional soil stabilization approach. To this end, the Strength Improvement Factor (SIF) and Durability Index (DI) parameters were evaluated for marl soil stabilized with 6 % lime and varying contents of NC and GF after 7 and 28 days of curing, considering up to 8 Freeze -Thaw (F -T) cycles. The findings demonstrate that the compounds exhibit effective interlocking bonds as a result of the presence of GF and NC, as confirmed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X -Ray Diffraction (XRD) analyses. Moreover, the addition of 1 % NC and 0.75 % GF is observed to effectively improve the efficiency of lime -stabilized marl through chemical, physical and mechanical means, thus yielding higher SIF and DI values.
