Abstract
A comprehensive analysis of Stachytarpheta herbarium specimens has led to the discovery of a new species from the Espinhago Range within the Caatinga domain. Stachytarpheta liviae is a shrub with coriaceous leaves, short inflorescences, and blue corollas. Its single collection comes from the campos rupestres of the Morro do Chapeu in the Jacaraci municipality, state of Bahia. For its recognition, a detailed description, photographs, comparison with morphologically related species, and a geographical distribution map are provided. Following the IUCN criteria this species may be considered as Data Deficient (DD).
