Multi-Target Tracking for Full-Duplex Distributed Integrated Sensing and Communications.

The localization of targets through multistatic distributed radar systems offers a greater degree of freedom compared to colocated radar configurations. However, a significant challenge arises when localizing multiple targets with distributed multiple transmitter-receiver systems because of substantial volume of measurement data. In this paper, we focus on the case of multiple targets for the in-band full-duplex (IBFD) integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) systems. The IBFD facilitates simultaneous transmission and reception over the same channel thereby effectively doubling spectral efficiency. We consider a co-designed IBFD multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications in conjunction with a distributed MIMO radar system. We then harness the capabilities of an IBFD MU-MIMO communciations and distributed radar ISAC system to localize and track multiple targets with the help of the joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) and extended Kalman filter. We validate our proposed JPDA-based tracking for different antenna geometries and number of targets.
