摘要
Aim: This study aimed to assess the impact of therapeutic radiation on free radical levels in rat periodontal tissue and cheek mucosa and investigate the protective effect of pre-radiotherapy application of polyphenols and bioflavonoids (ENOANT®). Material and Method: Forty rats were divided into four groups, receiving various ENOANT® regimens before therapeutic radiation. Free radical levels were evaluated using MDA and sialic acid measurements. Results: The study found no significant difference in free radical formation among rats subjected to therapeutic dose radiation. Long-term ENOANT® use prior to radiotherapy led to a significant decrease in tissue free radical levels compared to the radiotherapy-only group. Conclusion: Pre-radiotherapy administration of ENOANT® demonstrated a protective effect against radiation-induced oxidative stress in rat periodontal tissue and buccal mucosa. These findings suggest ENOANT® as a promising intervention to enhance radiotherapy outcomes.
