摘要
Improving network lifetime with energy-efficient utilization is the main aim of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) design. Sink mobility is an effective strategy for increasing performance in WSNs, such as easing traffic stress from sensor nodes. WSN routing protocols are categorized into distinct groups depending on their network topology and suitability. In this research article, we have analyzed the performance of various WSN routing protocols such as DIRECT, LEACH, PEGASIS, MR-LEACH, and EEUCLC under the following mobile sink locations. We assumed three sink positions for static sink scenarios: center, corner, and outside the Region of Interest (RoI). Random, grid, spiral, and Gaussian models have been used for the mobile sink. For a large-scale WSN, multi-hopping and unequal clustering is an effective mechanisms for improving the network performance. However, to further improve the efficiency, sink mobility is an efficient method for enhancing the execution of WSNs as it avoids creating energy holes/hot spots by avoiding long-distance transmissions in those areas. It is found through our simulation that by using random and deterministic mobility patterns, energy efficiency improves by 7%-10%.
