1-bit Dual-band Transmission Array Based on 3-D Frequency Selective Surface

A transmission array antenna based on three-dimensional (3-D) periodic structural elements is proposed in this paper. The design was theoretically guided by a two-dimensional equivalent circuit schematic, and then the 3-D structural elements are then mapped. The proposed element can realize any phase shift value in any dual-band for the incident wave with single polarization, which assure the construction of a dual-band transmission array. To verify our proposal, four cells capable of realizing a 1-bit dual-band transmission array are designed, and the array achieves a gain of 19.75 dBi at 5GHz and a gain of 19.01 dBi at 8GHz.
