NIMONIC® 105 variants with three different carbon concentrations were manufactured. The medium carbon content variant shows inferior creep properties due to a bimodal grain size distribution and non-uniform carbides repartition leading to plastic strain accumulation between the two domains. This eventually facilitated facile cracking and void formation during high-temperature creep.
