Adaptive Fault-Tolerant Attitude Control for Rigid Spacecraft With Disturbances and Uncertainties

This paper addresses the fault-tolerant control problem for rigid spacecraft with actuator failures, disturbances, and uncertainties. Firstly, a sliding mode variable is constructed to make the closed-loop system robust to unknown nonlinear terms including disturbances, uncertainties, and the drift fault. Secondly, a robust fault-tolerant control algorithm is developed to achieve stability when actuator failures occur. It should be noted that the proposed algorithm via the sign-like function and the adaptive method will not generate chattering. Finally, a simulation example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed control policy.
