Abstract
The effect of microstructure on the corrosion-friction behavior of 11Cr4NiMo steel was investigated for three different microstructure states. Quenched martensite and low-temperature tempered martensite with high density dislocations exhibit severe wear under the dual effects of corrosion and abrasion, and their wear mechanism include three-body wear, adhesive wear, and fatigue wear. While high-temperature tempered microstructure mixed structure of tempered martensite, reversed austenite, and M23C6 carbides exhibits weakened wear. Reversed austenite greatly promotes the generation of a dense and stable passivation film with corrosion product of α-FeOOH, and plays a lubricating role and attenuates three-body wear. Utilizing the passivation film induced by corrosion to improve the wear resistance of materials is of great significance in engineering applications.
