DOA Estimation Approach Based on Parallel Stochastic Resonance System and Signal Correlation Calculation

Abstract
In this study, a wireless signal direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation approach based on the cross-correlation calculation of the receiving array signal with parallel stochastic resonance system (PSRS) is proposed. It can fulfill the DOA estimation requirement by finding the peak value of the cross-correlation calculation of the receiving array signal after PSRS processing. Theoretical analyses certify the unbiasedness, the space domain asymptotic efficiency and the time domain asymptotic efficiency of the proposed approach. According to the fact that the receiving signal model has been modified based on the PSRS processing, and the asymptotic time average of SNR by using the proposed approach can be improved compared with the SNR of original receiving signal, it can even perform better than the conventional and up-to-date 3-dimensional (3D) DOA estimation methods. Computer simulation results show better performances of the proposed approach in the signal quality improvement and the DOA estimation precision improvement compared with some up-to-date methods, which is also suitable for multiple sources condition. And the computational complexity is also acceptable in real applications.
