Study on the physical properties and luminescent properties of Tb3+doped GBBS magneto-optical glass

In this study, GeO2-Bi2O3–B2O3–SiO2 (GBBS) glass was prepared and studied. Used XRD and FT-IR tests were to characterize glass structures, and it was found that GBBS magneto-optical glass has an amorphous structure with [GeO6], [BO3], [BO4], and [BiO6] as the main network-forming bodies. The physical parameters and theoretical optical alkalinity were calculated by formulas. It was found that when the content of Tb2O3 grew, the values of physical parameters increased. At the same time, it can be seen that the chemical stability of GBBS magneto-optical glass has also been enhanced. It increases with the rise of Tb3+ ion doping concentration. It is worth noting that when studying the influence of different wavelengths and different temperatures regarding the magneto-optical characteristics of the GBBS glass, when the temperature is 273.15 K and the wavelength is 633 nm, it has been observed that GBBS glass has a Verdet constant of −173.28 rad/(T·m), and the Verdet constant value of GBBS glass is −162.60 rad/(T·m) at 633 nm and the temperature of 298.15 K, which is greater than Tb3Ga5O12 (−134 rad/(T·m)). The fluorescence spectrum shows that the emission peak intensity is also strongest at 544 nm, and decreases with the increase of Tb3+ ion content.
