Medical nutritional therapy for gingival mucoepidermoid cancer patient: A case report

Introduction: Mucoepidermoid cancer is a common mouth cancer. The altered metabolism in cancer and the side effects of the treatments lead to malnutrition and cachexia. Hence, medical nutritional therapy is pivotal to preventing the matter. Case presentation: A 22-year-old woman with mucoepidermoid cancer underwent radiotherapy and experienced the deliberating side effects resulting in weight loss. The nutritional therapy was given, and she regained her body weight and had an increased nutritional status within five months. Conclusion: Medical nutritional therapy prevents malnutrition and cachexia in mucoepidermoid cancer patients.
