Synthesis of and iodine capture with MS_x (Ag₂S, Bi₂S₃, Cu₂S)-polyacrylonitrile composites

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) composites were produced with metal sulfides (Ag2S, Bi2S3, and Cu2S) using dimethyl sulfoxide as the PAN dissolution medium. Static I-2(g) loading experiments at 130 degrees C show values of 723, 909, and 1095 mg g(-1) for 80Ag(2)S-PAN, 80Bi(2)S(3)-PAN, and 80Cu(2)S-PAN, respectively.
