摘要
As a prognostic indicator in heart failure patients, Cheyne-Stokes respiration (CSR) occurs both day and night. However, current methods for CSR detection still have limitations in convenience and long-term monitoring. This paper presents a wireless biomedical millimeter-wave radar as a potential technique for assisting heart failure monitoring by detecting CSR. With the radar placed at the bedside, it can offer cardiopulmonary recordings of patients around the clock, excelling in sensitivity, noncontact detection, and constant monitoring. Clinical experimental results from a two-day monitoring of a heart failure patient who experienced CSR revealed that the proposed technique could accurately reconstruct the respiratory pattern during both sleep and wakefulness, which also had a good consistency when compared with the PSG results.
