•Integrated S-MoSe2/ multi-channel carbon nanofibers is fabricated via in situ selenation process and sulfur deposition.•Accelerated charge delocalization and reduced adsorption energy barrier of sodium ions are achieved.•The advanced rate and high energy density for sodium-ion half/full batteries are exhibited.•S doing is beneficial for sodium ion adsorption and denser conduction band distribution.
