Abstract
Electrical cable joint silicone rubber insulation is influenced by various factors such as electricity and heat, leading to aging and failure of insulation performance. To non-destructively detect the aging status of silicone rubber, a diagnostic method based on ultrasound velocity for silicone rubber aging status is proposed. Silicone rubber specimens with different aging times were prepared, and their density and elastic modulus were measured. The correlation between silicone rubber ultrasound velocity and aging status was verified through simulation and experimentation. The experimental results showed that the goodness of fit between silicone rubber velocity and aging status was above 0.8. Using ultrasound velocity can accurately characterize the aging status of silicone rubber.
