Performance analysis of interior and embedded permanent magnet for double stator generator

Abstract
The permanent magnet synchronous machines can convert the mechanical energy to electrical energy and gain in popularity because of their benefits, which include a high conversion efficiency and a high-power density. Most studies examined the surface-mounted double stator permanent magnet generator and studied at the interior permanent magnet but for single stator permanent magnet generator only. The main purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristics of the double-stator permanent magnet generator with interior and embedded permanent magnet. Neodymium Iron Boron is the material used for the permanent magnet. Three different shapes of the permanent magnet rotor, including S, V, and U-shaped examined for the cogging torque, and average torque utilizing the two-dimensional finite element method (2D FEM). The S-shaped interior and embedded double-stator permanent magnet generator shows the best performance compared to the other shapes and magnetization direction.
