Implementation of the Forward Chaining and Dempster Shafer Methods in Diagnosing Tonsillitis

In seven Indonesian provinces, tonsillitis is the third most common Ear, Nose, and Throat infection condition, affecting about 287,000 children under 15 worldwide. The patient experiences pain during examinations since clinicians still check the patient’s oral cavity directly for extended periods. As a result, we require a system that will aid medical professionals in identifying and explaining tonsillitis to patients. The Forward Chaining and Dempster Shafer Techniques are combined in the system that was developed. The Dempster Shafer calculates the prediction results, and the Forward Chaining technique categorizes diseases following expert guidelines. A total of 75 data points from medical records were included in the test. System diagnostic testing produced an accuracy rating of 94.6% compared to expert diagnostics.
